The Lehigh Liberty Center (LLC) is a project in Newark’s South Ward where we were asked to prepare a Master Planning Strategy for a vacant transportation warehouse. Following the goals of the Newark Draft Vision Plan for equitable communities, the objective of the Lehigh Liberty Center project is to create a healthier neighborhood with productive connections to the entire city and surrounding region. The vision for restoring this site relies on a community-driven planning process that incorporates the specific needs of the surrounding community and offers the current residents a role in the making and occupation of this unique place within Newark’s urban fabric.
