Please join us for the opening reception for the New Practices New York/2008 exhibition.

New Practices New York/2008 is the second juried portfolio competition and exhibition in a new biennial tradition sponsored by the New Practices Committee of the AIA New York Chapter. It serves as a platform for recognizing and promoting new, innovative and emerging architecture firms within New York City that have undertaken unique and commendable strategies - both in projects and practice. common room was selected as one of six winners.

For the duration of the exhibition the common room installation will serve as a forum for the exploration of four main themes. These themes will be investigated through a series of informal talks by guests invited by common room and printed matter using the installation as point of distribution:

All the competition winners were asked to produce a question and answer text, an installation, and short film for the exhibition at the Center for Architecture. common room worked in collaboration with colleagues and friends on each of these aspects of the exhibition:
